"Gilsland #4" and wipeout in Harpswell

I painted with my friends Joelle and Suzanne today at the very southern tip of Harpswell. It was a gorgeous day, but nothing was working on my easel, two wipeouts! This is yesterday's effort, another Gilsland view, this time from a photo. One of the things I love about Gilsland is the clumps of trees out in the open where you can get a good view from several angles. This is one of favorites. It amazing how different it looks from different directions and in different light.
Gilsland #4 is a 6"X6" oil.

  1. I love this! This one just glows! The golden grass in the foreground, the pines with hints of warm, orange late afternoon sun bouncing off the inner branches, and the sliver of turquoise ocean. Wonderful!

  2. I like it. I LOVE Harpswell. Stayed on Baileys Island one September, painting with friends.
