"Hearts" - SOLD

"Hearts"
6"X6" oil on canvas panel

I know it's early for this, but I'm doing a few paintings to see what I can come up with for the Valentine's Day show we are having at the Yarmouth Frameshop and Gallery. I have several ideas, and couldn't resist the traditional Valentine's Day candy box. Amazing how hard it is to make that lid look tilted! My husband thinks one of the chocolates should have a bite out of it, but I wasn't sure about that.

  1. I think your lid actually came out great, particularly the reflection on the right side. I have been working on some paintings for the Yarmouth show myself and I find it a challenge to come up with good vibrant shades of brown. I am experimenting with various degrees of cobalt blue and cadmium orange with a hint of black. What do you use?

  2. Great fun - and the top does look tilted - I am impressed by your willpower and restraint to not eat them all. Surely, if I did this, the box would be empty. Not kidding, TOTALLY empty. . .

  3. Not too early. CVS had their Valentine display out on January 2nd :(
This is terrific, though. I'm with Lisa, in that I would keep the box for a prop!
